About the Item

Alain Richard undoubtedly invented the first French spotlight at the end of the 1950s, in 1958 precisely. This floor lamp is a designer classic, its minimal and refined style generates simple shapes perfectly proportioned in the service of perfect functionality. Moreover, the details like the marble base and the lampshade (that Alain Richard was calling "paralume") give it an even more elegant aesthetic. Thanks to his successful and unique design, Richard won the grand prize of the Milan Triennale in 1954, that of the Universal Exhibition of 1958, and the René-Gabriel prize in 1964.
