About the Item

Exceptionally rare if not unique French, 1950s wall or ceiling mounted fixture with three arms. Asymmetric form and quasi-atomic design consisting of a black enameled framed pallet shaped mount fitted with a yellow painted metal grille with cruciform perforations, overlaid with a "forme libre" tubular armature, the beginning, middle and end of which are punctuated with lights...a rounded red painted aluminum hemisphere with long tapered brass finial, a yellow aluminum conical shade with perforations and same finial, and most unusual, a clear thick glass disk mounted to a steel vertical ring orbiting a brass bayonet socket. On the side of the pallet are three original push button on/off switches. This is entirely original apart from the glass disk which we replaced. The fixture has only been carefully cleaned. All the paint is the original as well as the sockets. Without a doubt exceedingly rare, possibly very important. Tajan sold a related fixture in May 2007. See image 9. Image 10 shows a related five arm fixture. Style of Jacques Biny, Mathieu Mategot and Robert Mathieu. It would be possible to convert this into a suspension light fixture without altering the original by connecting three lengths of lamp cord from a compatible ceiling canopy.

Pair of Maison Lunel Double Arm Sconces with Original Abat Jour
By Maison Lunel
Located in Hanover, MA
We actually have two pair available but this listing is for one pair of 1950s, French wall lamps by Maison Lunel in the style of Jacques Adnet having double brass arms with gunmetal accents. The wedge form backplate has a flick on/off switch. Rewired. We can mount to a custom backplate to accommodate your situation. It is very unusual to find the original two piece shades because they typically do not survive as they are made of colored perforated paper. Typically I would use a tall conical shade with these but a standard size candelabra shade...
