About the Item
A very handsome and exquisite pair of Italian 18th century Venetian st. Pressed Metal and Tole lanterns. Each lantern has a circular array of pressed metal oak leaves at the bottom below additional scrolled foliate designs. The hexagonal body displays open sides housing one light bulb. The six glass panels are hand blown and are set within an oval shaped frame with a dentil patterned trim. These unique glass panels open from the bottom to reveal the interior. Above the body is a top band consisting of finely decorated Tole leaves that flow up towards the top crown. The top crown has additional acanthus leaves that come together to form an elegant spray. All original patina throughout.
