With early 20th century lighting as one of our specialities, we are always happy to find a pendant, lantern or chandelier that we have never seen before. This Dutch Arts & Crafts lantern is another one of those beautifully crafted and very stylish ceiling lamps that we have become known for at home and abroad. This quality made pendant with its hexagonal design and thick brass finials at the bottom comes with its original and beautiful glass panels and each is decorated with a marvelous, hand engraved wheat motif. It is this rare design element that makes us believe that this pendant was especially made for one of our many farmers or bakers around the turn of the century. If this lantern will hang relatively close to your walls then (with the light switched on) you will even be able to see the wheat pattern 'reflections' on your wall. The beautiful patina of the brass frame combines perfectly with the clean transparent glass, making this Arts & Crafts light fixture an absolute joy to own and to look at. And with the three lights switched on, this rare work of lighting art radiates a warm light that will create just the perfect atmosphere in an entryway, on a landing in a private library etc. This rare and good condition pendant will be rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and thanks to the chain it can easily be adjusted to a height that is perfect for you. Thanks to the metal hook inside the height adjustable and original brass canopy, safely mounting this light tight to your ceiling can be done in just a few minutes.

This early Arts & Crafts era pendant has an aesthetic beauty that you don't find anymore in this day and age. It has the most pleasing to the eye shape and amber color and the handcrafted brass has a marvelous patina. In images 2 and 3 you can see that this unique light fixture started its life as (and still is) a candle lantern. Because of the Gothic quatrefoil details this may have been a sanctuary lamp at the entrance of a church or monastery.
