Christopher Prinz “Wrinkled Wall Sconce” in Black Oxide Finish (Raw)

About the Item

Wrinkled steel sconce by Omaha-based designer Christopher Prinz, who achieves this unusual texture by repeatedly creasing a thin sheet of steel, resulting in a strong, rigid, and unique form. Made to order in 6-8 weeks. Easily customizable and available in a range of both raw and polished finishes. Please note that pieces with polished finishes are priced higher due to the more laborious plating process that they require. Sconces in the raw finishes are priced at $2600 and are priced at $2900 in the polished finishes CHRISTOPHER PRINZ is an Omaha-based designer seeking to expose extreme and rarely-visible possibilities of materials associated with manufacturing. His works are shaped using a repetitive, large-scale steel creasing technique, and finished with different combinations of electro-plated metals. Through this process, the material becomes terrain-like, bringing an expressiveness to these otherwise fairly mute industrial materials. Prinz received a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014.
