French Pair of Vintage Brass Wheat Sconces
About the Item
This pair of vintage (circa 1970) French Hollywood Regency style gilt sconces use the symbolism of wheat to glamorize the agrarian, promoting abundance and prosperity in any room they are hung in. The design was likely inspired by a wheat-motif side table belonging to the famous Coco Chanel, then reinterpreted by German lighting designer Hans Kögl; the sconces delight us with organic references of pastoral naturalism, worked in gilded metal to illuminate the room. Each single-arm fixture uses a candelabra-base bulb in faux candle covers mounted in floral bobeche, projecting outward from a loose arrangement of elegantly bowed stalks. Professionally cleaned and rewired for US electrical using UL-listed parts. Please view the detailed images. Sold as a pair.
