Large Brutalist Sculptural Sconces by Marcello Fantoni, Italy, 1970s, Set of 2

About the Item

A pair of very big hand made wall sconces attributed to Marcello Fantoni between the 60's and 70's. It would be more appropriate to define them as a luminous artistic installation than simple wall lights. Perhaps inspired by the artistic movement of "Poor Art" born in Italy during the 60s, the artist used poor materials such as iron and rough glass. These materials are engraved, burned and cut, creating rough and primitive surfaces. The effect of the light that filters through the amber glass and the cuts in the iron rods is splendid.
