About the Item

Extraordinary pair of Louis XVI style carved gilded wall sconces. Unusually large proportions. Beautifully carved detail depicting rifles, swords, hunting horns, spears, rope, and chain. Each was painted and gilded with three candle arms and electrified lights. Paris, circa 1830 Measures: 21” H 51” W 8" D. Make a bold statement with this exquisite pair of large early 19th-century wall sconces, crafted in Paris circa 1830 in the Louis XVI style. These intricately hand-carved wooden sconces feature an elaborate composition of rifles, spears, swords, hunting horns, arrows, rope, and chain- symbolic motifs of classical French hunt scenes. Finished in original gilded and polychrome paint, the surface bears a beautifully aged patina showcasing its rich history and craftsmanship. Each sconce is fitted with three candle-style arms elegantly scrolled and electrified for modern use. Dramatic in scale and richly detailed, these rare decorative wall lights are perfect for grand interiors, from formal libraries to entry halls and salons.
