A compelling pair of 19th-century French Provincial wall sconces in the Louis XV style, hand-forged in Provence circa 1860. Crafted from scrolled iron with exceptional fluidity and decorative grace, each sconce features an elaborate backplate with symmetrical foliate scrollwork and delicate gilded metal accents applied at key junctions.
Each sconce supports two sweeping candle arms with foliate bobeches and faux wax candle sleeves. The pieces have been later wired for electricity, discreetly retaining their original character while offering contemporary function. The darkened patina of the iron contrasts beautifully with the warm gilt embellishments, creating an elegant blend of rustic charm and Rococo flourish.
