About the Item

Pair of candle sconces with two cornucopia styled arms made from ormolu, handcrafted by master craftsmen in the 19th century..The pair of antique wall sconces have a distinct French Louis XVI style, which shows flexibility with the characteristic curves of the classic style Purposefully symmetrical curves bring out the magnificence and luxury of aristocracy circa the 19th century. Louis XVI style prioritizes classic floral motifs that are delicately carved and with charming curves. Pair of sublime French wall sconces with finial dore bow knot. Below the dore bow knot is abundance of grapes showing the prosperity and growth of nature. The stem of wall sconces depicts goat’s horn. Leaf and grape motifs are not only adorned at the top but also used at the end of candle sconces. The two cornucopia arms are decorated with classic acanthus motifs and drip pans. The classical symmetry of two cornucopia-like arms has clear features of neoclassicism. The Neoclassical movement that dominated Europe through the 18th-19th centuries is inspired by Greco-Roman classical art, focus on simplicity and balance.
