Rare Set of Four Bronze/Brass Hand Sconces in the Manner of Jean Cocteau
About the Item
A rare and extraordinary set of four hand sconces reminiscent of the Fantasy style epitomized in his movies by the great French Artist and film maker Jean Cocteau. Marked SA with a half circle. The sconces with angular shaped brass or bronze back plates with black painted hands grasping brass torchieres as supports for the twin brass lights. The lights with black composition sockets.
Measures: Height. 8 1/4", width 6 3/4", depth 3 3/4"
Condition: The overall condition is good with expected and acceptable age staining and gilt loss to the metal, tarnishing, oxidation spots, chips to one black socket rim, a few chips to fist paint (Please see detail photos) all mentioned for accuracy as the Set present in a poetic and artistic manner.
