Swedish Adjustable Wall Lamp SL3 in Perforated Brass - Alf Svensson for Bergbom

About the Item

This is the adjustable Swedish wall lamp model SL 3, designed by famous Alf Svensson for Bergbom & Co. It comes in bell-shaped form in perforated brass. The lampshade is mounted on a bent brass shaft and can be directed up and down as desired and the shaft turned sideways. The inside of the shade is lacked in white for reflection. The bulb holder is model E27. The lamp is descret marked “BERGBOM”, “SL 3” and “MAX 25W” with a punch at the top of the shade. In addition to that, Semko's quality mark, the S-mark, can be found on the back of the wall mount. ____________________ The designer Alf Svensson (1923-1992) was a Swedish furniture- and lighting designer. After his education at The School of Slöjdföreningen, he got 1950 the position of chief architect at the mattress company Dux. A number of iconic furnitures left his desk in the following years. During the same time he was also creative director at the lighting factory Bergbom & Co. Bergbom & Co, today better known as Bergboms 2.0 is a Swedish manufacturer of luminaires, founded 1940 by industrialist Efraim Ljung. He was a well known entrepreneur who owned several companies in different industries, for example the well known mattress factory Dux. Efraim Ljung passed away in 1955, aged 77, but his company is, through the fourth generation of Ljung, still in action. The S-marking was founded in 1926 and until 1994 there was a state requirement which meant that in principle all electrical installation equipment to be installed in Sweden had to be tested and approved by SEMKO for S-marking.
