About the Item

Here is a simple, yet elegant lamp designed by French ceramist Marcel Guillard (1896-1932) and executed by Etling Paris. From the 1920s, this example has a beautiful reddish-brown mottled crackle glaze with contrasting cream bands. The lamp measurements listed are with shade, although the shade is not included. Without the shade, the lamp measures 21.75" high to the top of the finial. The height of the pottery is approximately 10" high and 8" in diameter. The lamp is in very good condition with no cracks or chips to the ceramic. Marcel Guillard was born in 1896 in Paris. Although also a painter, he was known predominantly as a ceramist. Etling Paris was founded in 1909 by Edmond Laurent Etling, launching his first shop on the Rue du Paradis. The shop represented talented designers, sculptors and architects--selling exclusive high quality objects. Marcel Guillard was one of the most prominent atelier's in Etling's stable of artists.
