About the Item

Angelo Mangiarotti was a very important italian architect and designer, born in 1921 in Milan. He studied architecture at the Politecnico of Milan and gratuated in 1948. He then went to the US for a short period of time where he had the chance to meet Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe, who were crucial to his own growth and style development. Here we have a table lamp model Lesbo made by Mangiarotti in 60s for Artemide. It is made in brushed aluminum base and Murano glass diffuser made by Vistosi. On the bottom you can see (as shown in photos) the original text about the manufacturer, the designer and the model of the lamp. Published in: - G. Gramigna, Repertorio del design italiano 1950-2000, Allemandi, 2003; - Domus 448, marzo 1967, p. 40; - Domus 451, giugno 1967, pp. 41-43. Good condition, fully original. We recommend a wooden crate as the lamp is fragile. The light can be rewired for US standards upon request.

20th Century Roberto Pamio Table Lamp mod. Gill 45 for Leucos, 60s
By Roberto Pamio, Leucos
Located in Turin, Turin
Roberto Pamio works intensively in the design world internationally. With the Pamio Architectural Studio and Pamio Design in Scorzè (VE), he ranges from architectural design, interior design and layout, industrial design and image architecture. In all his architecture, natural elements such as light, air and water are emphasized, making space fluid and changeable. His creative sensibility led him to approach industrial design at a very young age, developing his own personal interpretation that has found full expression in lighting and interior design. The knowledge of the material and the careful attention to detail that distinguishes his design objects has also been reflected in the realization of architectural projects, for a perfect fusion and synergy between space and furnishing needs. Here we have a table lamp model Gill 45...

20th Century Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni Table Lamp Taccia for Flos
By Flos, Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
Located in Turin, Turin
Table lamp model "Taccia" designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1960s for Flos in extruded aluminium with painted metal reflector and mouth-blown translucent glass diffuser, and base in polished, nickel-plated and zapped steel; very good condition. This project stems from Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni's desire to make a table lamp with indirect light. Following various studies, they made a prototype with an opaque white reflector made of plastic material and a supporting cup, also made of plastic material but transparent. After various experiments, they discarded the idea of using plastic material because of the deformations that were created to the reflector support due to the heat of the concentrated light source. The final prototype turns out to consist of a reflector made of aluminum lacquered in a matte white color in the convex part, polished in the concave part, and a support cup made of transparent glass resistant even to high temperatures. Achille Castiglioni said in 1987: "This is an interesting lamp because of its history, and because someone today confuses it for a post-modern object...
