Brass table lamp with painted red brass shade.
This lamp is in a style that we call eclectic historical, combining Egyptian, Roman, English and neo classical elements. The history of eclectic style spans all the way back to the 18th century. The word eclecticism actually comes from the Greek word “eklektikos.”
It was commonly used in philosophy and encouraged picking the best doctrines from multiple schools of thought, then combining them to create a completely unique school of thought, specific to the person choosing the doctrines. The influence of the ancient cultures and primitive arts has a special significance for Art Deco and makes accessories like these very authentic. Inspiration for the lamp came from the typical English table lamp.
