About the Item
A beautiful articulating industrial Bauhaus design task lamp from the 1930s, designed by Christian Dell and produced by Koranda Austria. This versatile light is fully adjustable in all directions and features a clamp base, allowing it to be mounted on a desk or table. When the clamp is removed, it can also be screwed directly onto a tabletop or mounted on a wall, transforming it into a stylish sconce. This piece is an unrestored vintage original, retaining its original paint from the 1930s and made of metal. It is in good condition with a patina throughout, but nothing that would diminish the joy of owning this beautiful industrial lamp.
The lamp tkes a E27 fitting bulb and has an integrated switch directly on the metal lampshade. Its height is adjustable, ranging from approximately 23 inches to a maximum of 60 inches.
Christian Dell (1893–1974) was a German silversmith and industrial designer, best known for his lighting designs. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hanau and later worked as a master craftsman at the Bauhaus school in Weimar, where he significantly influenced Bauhaus design principles. His most famous creations include a series of desk lamps, particularly the iconic Kaiser Idell lamp, designed in the 1930s. These lamps are celebrated for their clean lines, functionality, and timeless design, making them icons of industrial design. Christian Dell was a pioneer of modern design, emphasizing the balance between form and function.
