Fase Madrid Design Desk Lamp, Luis Pérez de la Oliva, Spain, 1970s

About the Item

An elegant golden and chrome Mid-Century desk, table or side lamp from the 1970s — Model No. 520, designed by Luis Pérez de la Oliva and produced by the renowned Spanish lighting manufacturer Industrias Fase in Madrid, Spain. This iconic piece retains its original finish in a beautiful golden tone combined with chrome hardware — in our opinion, the best color combination for this model. The lamp features a round base, a gracefully curved neck and a disc-shaped shade with a domed frosted glass diffuser. Thanks to a ball joint, the shade is fully adjustable in all directions. It offers two light sources and includes an integrated switch discreetly placed on the back of the shade. Please note that here are two very small, barely noticeable chips on the glass diffuser at the bottom of the shade — see photos for details. Otherwise, the lamp is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of age. Remarkably, the original label is still affixed to the top of the lamp. While we can’t guarantee it, we believe this piece may have never been used. Stamped "fase" on the underside of the base, this lamp is a timeless, elegant and harmonious classic. Industrias Fase was founded in 1964 by Pedro Martín García and Luis Pérez de la Oliva in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid. The company specialized in lighting fixtures and office accessories. Fase became renowned for two iconic desk lamps: the Boomerang 64 (1964) and the Presidente S/C (1968), both designed by its founders. The Presidente S/C achieved international acclaim after appearing in the television series Mad Men and is now part of the collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
