French 19th century Louis XV st. Crystal, Glass and Ormolu Girandoles

About the Item

An elegant and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. Crystal, Glass and Ormolu Girandoles. Each six light lamp is raised by a fine triangular pierced Ormolu base with arbalest shaped sides. Coming from each corner of the triangular base are scrolling bands that lead to the base of the central fut which is encased by stacked bulbs of Glass. The base of the fut also introduces the 'S' scrolled arms which are adorned with Crystal rosettes and scallop shaped pendants with etched star designs. The end of each arm has a lily pad bobeche and tulip shaped smooth candle cup. Separating each pair of arms is an additional 'S' scrolled arm containing a topie shaped dagger with a pair of 'S' scrolled arms accented with rosettes and scallop shaped pendants with etched star designs. Atop the glass spheres encasing the central fut is a spray of Ormolu bands that are decorated with additional rosette and scallop shaped pendant. Leading up toward the top crown are bands coming from the glass daggers below which form an open cage with additional topie shaped daggers above, also containing rosette and scallop shaped pendants. The top crown contains a slender tapered cut Glass dagger fitted inside a circular mottled candle cup with a lily pad bobeche below.
