French Mid-Century Modern Handmade Painted Table Lamp with Nickel Fittings

About the Item

This stunning table lamp was handmade in France, circa 1960. The lamp is composed of an orbital body with a patchwork of rectilinear forms in tones of silver, bronze, and blue slate that exhibits a rich impasto lending it a sculptural presence and testifying to its artisanal construction. The lamp body is framed on either side by hour glass shaped supports in polished nickel. This rectilinear motif is repeated on the upper portion of the original custom shade, bordered on top and bottom in polished nickel. The lamp rests on a conical base in the same material. With its clean lines and organic modern aesthetic, this piece is as versatile as it is striking, representing a winning addition to any style of decor from classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. France, circa 1960 Dimensions: 29.75” height x 12.25” diameter.
