About the Item
A small futuristic table lamp, model B225, designed and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson in the 1960s. It features an orange aluminum base holding an egg-shaped opal glass shade. The tulip foot and perforated metal give this lamp the perfect space-age look. It still bears the manufacturer's label underneath and inside the lamp, and the shade is marked "Made in Sweden”.
Swedish industrial designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson, born on the island of Gotland in 1919, began his career as a carpenter's apprentice in his teenage years. Following his pursuit of architecture studies, he joined General Motors as a designer. In 1951, he established Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in the quaint community of Markaryd. The factory is most renowned today for its mid-century lighting fixtures, though it also produced small furniture and various other interior design objects.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish interior and furniture designer, who ran his own company from 1951. Jakobsson was especially famous for his lighting designs, which often had a softly glowing light and organic shape. His designs were inspired by great, modern Scandinavian designers such as the Finnish icon Alvar Aalto and Danish lighting master Poul Henningsen.
