Important Table Lamp with Original Shade by Dupré-Lafon for Hermès
About the Item
A rare Hermes desk/table lamp designed by Paul Dupré-Lafon formed of circular sections of stacked leather on a quilted leather base retaining original hardware and original parchment hide (vellum?) shade with leather trim and stitching.
Artist/Designer: Paul Dupré-Lafon (1900-1971.)
Maker: Hermés, Paris.

Please see pg. 77, 'Dupre Lafon: decorateur des millionnaires' by Thierry Couvrat Desvergnes for nearly identical table lamp with stacked leather column, along with a floor lamp of similar design. Both lamps illustrated with the same shade design.
A floor lamp of the design illustrated in Desvergnes sold Sotheby's 10-4-2006 (Lot 119) for 38400 EUR.
