Lamp by Thibaud Weisz, Cast Aluminum Sculpture Base, France, 1970s

About the Item

A striking table lamp by French artist Thibaud Weisz (1910–2005), composed of a sculptural base in cast aluminum. Originally conceived as a freestanding abstract sculpture, the piece was later adapted into a lamp, preserving its original artistic intention. The rhythmic, architectural volume features undulating recesses that catch the light and give the form both weight and movement. A rare example of Weisz’s work in lighting, this piece reflects the brutalist influence and modernist sensitivity of French sculpture in the 1970s. Elegant yet bold, it functions as both a light source and an autonomous sculptural object. Fitted with a neutral linen shade and twisted fabric cord.
