Lumen Milano Rare Table Lamp
About the Item
Rare multi-directional table lamp by Lumen Milano, probably designed by Oscar Torlasco, mid-1940's.
Gloriously engineered elongated tapered brass stem stretches from a knurled ball joint fitted to a most unusual cast iron paw foot shaped base with on-off switch, to a brass swivel ball joint attached to the shade.
The distinctive and artfully formed aluminum shade shown in its original green satin enamel. Upon request we will re-enamel the shade in green or your choice of color.
Holds a single medium base Edison screw socket for E26 light bulb up to 100 watts.
Lumen S. A. per Illuminazione Razionale, via G. Verdi, 7 Milano was founded in 1936 by Gino Sarfatti along with Aldo Valcarenghi and Dino Mondolfi. Sarfatti would leave in 1939 to found Arteluce.
Lumen frequently appeared in the pages of Domus and Stile magazines and produced designs by Gio Ponti.
