About the Item
A pair of table lamps model M15 in brass and clear glass with warm yellow shades, designed by Maire Gullichsen for Artek in the 1960s. This simple yet elegant design is one of the few items designed by the Patron of Artek, art and old friend of the Aaltos Maire Gullichsen. A functional yet soft and elegant design, that blends easily into any interior.
This pair is in beautiful condition and both carry the Artek label.
Maire Gullichsen (1907–1990) was a Finnish art collector, patron, and cultural influencer, best known for her significant contributions to modern art and design in Finland. She co-founded the Artek company in 1935 with her husband, Harry Gullichsen, and architects Alvar and Aino Aalto. Artek became a pioneering force in promoting modernist design, particularly the works of the Aaltos.
Maire was a visionary who championed functionalism and modernism, helping to shape Finland's design identity in the 20th century. Her support extended beyond design to the broader arts, as she actively promoted Finnish culture and artists. Her legacy remains influential in the fields of art, architecture, and design.
