Mid-20th Century Cedric Hartman chrome desk lamp Simple yet sleek Cedric Hartman chrome desk lamp, Hartman was born in the USA (1929) and began his career as an architect in the late 1940s until he was called for service during the Korean War. After this, he spent some time soaking up the art and design culture of Chicago, going on to design his first lamps in the early 1960s. Hartman's goal was to “see the light, not the source”. He recognized the need for unimposing, ambient light. At night, it serves its purpose. During the day, you appreciate it only if you notice it. This triangular prismatic piece is a perfect example of just that. Size in inches approx: H 14” x W 22” x D 4.5” Origin: USA Date: 1960 Material: Chrome Condition: Good Completely solid in structure and form, with light surface scuffs due to age use (please zoom into the photos to see these blemishes) Rewired for a UK 240v source and the switch also works.
