About the Item
Napoleon III gilt bronze malachite column lamp. Gilt bronze column lamp in a richly decorative form popularized during the 1860s-1870s in France. The gilt base terminates in four scrolled feet, supporting the pedestal section composed of faux-painted malachite panels beneath the scrolled and shaped shaft crowned with a composite capital. Newly electrified with two lights, gold silk cord and switch. France, circa 1860s.
