Pair of Chinoiserie Majolica Lamps by Eugenio Pattarino

About the Item

A beautiful set of Chinoiserie lamps done in majolica by Prof. Eugenio Pattarino of Florence. Created in the late 1940s in his studio near the Ponte Vecchio. He was an Italian artist and sculptor who studied under agiovanni Fattori and was known for his large scale religious statutes. He was born in Florence in 1885 and he studied art there as well as in Venice and Frankfurt. He designed earthenware, ceramic, and enameled terracotta. He was equally proficient with both abstract and realistic. The lamps are majolica glazed earthenware with gilded highlights. The gold areas have a beautiful cracquleure(see photos). The base they sit on even has a Chinoiserie motif around the edge and was obviously picked for these lamps.
