About the Item
Pair of table lamps model BN 26 designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for Markaryd, Sweden. 1960s. Gold anodized aluminium. Excellent vintage condition, almost as new. Labeled.
Active between the 1950’s and 1970’s—in the golden age of Scandinavian design—Swedish interior decorator and furniture designer Hans-Agne Jakobsson is best remembered for his softly glowing, glare-free lighting fixtures, which were inspired by the "organic modern" approaches of Danish lighting master Poul Henningsen and Finnish icon Alvar Aalto. Experimenting with a wide range of materials—including brass, iron, glass, fabric, and wood shavings—Jakobsson mastered both the direction and colour of light. His designs are known for their hidden bulbs and streamlined ornamentation, which created diffused, muted lighting. A prolific career to say the least, his company produced over 2,000 separate Hans-Agne Jakobsson lamp designs. Measures: Height: 45 cm / 1' 5 3/4" Diameter: 33 cm / 1'1".

Hans-Agne Jakobsson
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a Swedish interior and furniture designer, who ran his own company from 1951. Jakobsson was especially famous for his lighting designs, which often had a softly glowing light and organic shape. His designs were inspired by great, modern Scandinavian designers such as the Finnish icon Alvar Aalto and Danish lighting master Poul Henningsen.
