About the Item
Polished bronze lamp with a four-leaf clover base by Italian sculptor Riccardo Scarpa (1905-1999).
Medalist, sculptor, and designer, Riccardo Scarpa notably worked with bronze to create beautiful objects with a plant-inspired feel. His work highlights this warm material by infusing it with a very modern, organic and refined feel.
Electric-powered and in very good condition, with some wear and tear.

Riccardo Scarpa (1905-1999) was an Italian artist who studied drawing at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and moved to Paris in 1928 to devote himself to sculpture. In 1974, he received the gold medal from the Société des Artistes Français for his exhibited works and had the opportunity to collaborate with the Monnaie de Paris as a medallist. His art is mainly influenced by Africanist art, such as the "Ethiopian Woman with a Vase" or "African Woman with a Jug". But from 1940 onwards, he turned to animal sculpture, creating "The Rooster" and "The Horse" in 1944. His art is characterized by clean lines and an Art Deco influence; he likes to create female nudes and use materials such as bronze, terracotta and marble. He also created zoomorphic bronze furniture such as lamp bases and sculpted floor lamps. He died in 1999.
