About the Item
These two Scandinavian modern "Lampan 750" table lamps in bronze by the sculptural artist Stig Blomberg are a fabulously handsome pair of casted bronze lamps bearing the imprint "Lampan 750".
Adorned with intricate relief work featuring two lion heads on opposite sides of the cylinder. Designed by the artist Stig Blomberg in the 1960s in Sweden, this cylindrical lamp boasts a unique form with a thin neck, making it a distinctive and elegant addition to any space.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Stig Blomberg was born in Linköping, Sweden. He studied at the Academy of Arts 1919–1923 under Carl Milles and Theodor Lundberg.
He received his first public commission as early as 1923 when he did a decoration for the cinema Skandia in Stockholm. He then executed several works for the public space. One of his most famous works of art is the round railing at the central station where people usually meet.
The theme of children and youth, often with elements of humor and empathy, was a recurring theme in his artwork. Stig Blomberg was a professor at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm 1951–1961.
