About the Item

H 55 cm W 65 cm D 19 cm Material: Sheet iron painted black, pressed fabric beige, bakelite black, toggle switch, connection cable, Schuko plug, socket E 27 Condition: Good original condition Special features: Very few signs of use. Rewired by our electrician, the interesting clamp joint lamp is once again fully usable. about this object: Industrial design of the GDR, a field that still receives little attention: wrongly, we think. Here we show a work lamp from REIF Leuchtenbau Dresden with a design typical of the time. The base plate has 4 holes for permanently screwing the luminaire on, as an alternative to the clamp, which is also provided. The luminaire has a matt black lacquer finish typical of the period and shows almost no signs of wear. The toggle switch is located in the Bakelite junction box at the bottom of the lamp arm. The lamp arm can be tilted and rotated using the ball joint in the lamp arm base. Can be locked in place using large Bakelite wing nuts. A piece of gooseneck has been inserted in the upper section of the luminaire arm for flexible adjustment of the reflector. The design can be described as simply functional and unobtrusive. The white pressed fabric of the reflector and the black paintwork contrast very subtly with the white pressed fabric. The luminaire has a 1 for first quality level at the top of the reflector; products marked with 1 were often used for export.
