About the Item

H 60 cm W 55 cm D 18 cm Material: sheet iron and aluminum, painted beige, pressed fabric beige, bakelite, pressure switch, connection cable, Schuko plug, socket E 27 Condition: good original condition Special features: very few signs of use. Rewired by our electrician, the interesting clamp joint lamp is once again fully usable. about this object: Industrial design in the GDR, a field that still receives very little attention: wrongly, in our opinion. Here we show a work lamp from VEB Zweckleuchtenbau Dresden with a design typical of the time. The base plate has 4 holes for permanently screwing the lamp on, as an alternative to the clamp, which is also present. The lamp is painted in beige, typical of the period, and shows almost no signs of use. The pressure switch is located in the Bakelite junction box at the bottom of the lamp arm. The lamp arm can be tilted and rotated around the spike of the base plate. It can be locked in place using large Bakelite wing nuts. A piece of gooseneck has been inserted in the upper section of the luminaire arm for flexible adjustment of the reflector. The design can be described as simply functional and unobtrusive. The white pressed fabric of the reflector and the beige paintwork contrast subtly with the dark red Bakelite. The lamp has a 1 for first quality level at the bottom of the lamp arm; products marked with 1 were often used for export.
