Tichelaar Makkum Hexagonal Delft Chinoiserie Lamp, New Velvet Shade (1948-1979)
About the Item
Meticulously handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam, Raven is a unique table lamp created from a vintage Royal Tichelaar Makkum vase, hand-painted between 1948 and 1979. This exquisite piece showcases the Delft Polychrome style with an uncommon black background, a rare feature in traditional Delftware. Rich hues of green, yellow, blue, and russet stand out against the deep black, creating a striking visual contrast. The hexagonal vase base features six elongated cartouches framed by intricate Delft-style Chinoiserie patterns, alternating between elegant bird-and-flower motifs and delicate floral scenes. Smaller, round cartouches on the upper and lower sections add to the vase’s ornate detailing.
Topped with a luxurious deep gold velvet lampshade, handmade in an Amsterdam atelier, Raven radiates warmth and sophistication. The bold interplay between the dark vase and the rich golden shade makes this lamp an extraordinary centerpiece for any interior.
Signed with the Royal Tichelaar Makkum mark, Raven carries the prestigious heritage of the Netherlands’ oldest ceramics company, known for over 400 years of craftsmanship. The vase has been transformed into a functional yet timeless work of art without harming its original form.
Please note, the lamp is fully wired for use in the U.S. Additionally, the listed height includes the lampshade. We also ensure compatibility for global use by offering a free plug customization service to match the electrical standards of your specific country. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
A true collector’s item, Raven brings timeless elegance and historical artistry into any space, bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
