Early Meissen Rococo Group 'Love and Indulgence' by J.C. Schönheit, Ca 1840
Located in Vienna, AT
Exceptional Meissen porcelain genre group: Young mother seated on a magnificent Louis XVI-style armchair, her left foot set down on a low stool, a boy lying on his stomach on her left thigh, his white shirt slipped up to reveal his bare buttocks, which the mother has probably just struck with the cane in her left hand, to her right a girl in a dress and hat decorated with feathers, clasping her mother's arm so that she can no longer strike the boy. The group is based on an oval pedestal with gold heightened frieze decoration on the sides. Particularly elaborate, detailed design and staffage. This model was based on drawings by Johann Eleazar Zeissig, known as 'Schenau' (1737-1806). Designed by JOHANN CARL SCHÖNHEIT (1730 - 1805) in 1788 started working as an apprentice in the Meissen factory in 1741 and has been in a responsible position since 1768. For more than 20 years, Schönheit was an employee of both J.J. Kändler as well as from M.V. Acier, who entered the Meissen factory in 1762. After Kändler's death in 1775, Schönheit was head of the model department until 1794. Design of the model in 1788 Manufactory: Meissen Germany Dating: made around 1840 Material: white porcelain, glossy finish Technique: handmade porcelain, finest hand painting Dimensions: height: 25,5 cm / 10.03 in width: 18,0 cm / 7.08 in depth: 16,0 cm / 6.29 in Marks: Blue Meissen crossed sword mark Model number: I 66 / former's number 35 / painter Da.. Count Bruhl's Tailor, 19th C. Bisque Porcelain Goat And Rider By Vion Et Baury
Located in Free Union, VA
A very finely modeled French bisque porcelain figural group, incorporating a mix of glazed and natural bisque porcelain. Dating to the late 19th century, this is an excellent example of the work produced by modeler Charles Baury who worked in Paris for the firm of Jean Giles (founded in 1837) until Baury took over the manufactory in 1868 and a few years later moved it to Choisey-le-Roi. A periwinkle embossed maker’s seal cipher “VB” for Vion et Baury is found on the underside. The figures and costume are inspired by the whimsy, beauty and absurdity frequently found in earlier 18th and 19th century Meissen porcelain compositions, and the historical figure, Heinrich, Count von Brühl...

Richard Ginori China Dinner Service with a botanical print by Munting Abraham
By Abraham Munting, Richard Ginori
Located in Roma, IT
A set of dishes made in Italy during the 80s, as attested by the date printed on the back of the plate, but inspired by 18th century porcelain, to be precise inspired by the "Saxon-style", a term which can be ascribed to the 18th-century Germanic tradition, according to which porcelain was made with reliefs similar to woven baskets. This vintage dinner service is produced by a historic Italian manufacturer "Richard Ginori" founded in Tuscany, in Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, of which Gio Ponti was creative director for 10 years. After declaring bankruptcy in 2013, this historic porcelain factory, in operation since 1735, was taken over by the Gucci group which restarted the production of iconic pieces and novelties inspired by archive pieces of the company. This set of dishes is a rarity as it is the result of an unusual combination that has the 18th century as its common thread, with the Rococo style, the scientific discoveries and the new botanical varieties resulting from the new trade routes of the companions of the Indies. On the classic Richard Ginori series, i.e. the total white motif called "Vecchio Ginori" (currently put back into production by Gucci) always and exclusively produced in total white, a botanical print by Abraham Munting depicting an orange plant was printed. Abraham Munting is a Dutch botanist famous for his unusual illustrations where plant species were depicted against a background of classic or pastoral landscapes, often floating in midair with little regard for perspective and relative sizes, in fact, the orange plant is not forced to inside the center of the plate but goes outside the predefined spaces wrapping it. The dinner set consists of 30 pieces: 6 dessert or appetizer plates with a diameter of 19.5 cm 12 soup plates with a diameter of 23cm 12 dinner plates with a diameter of 24.5 cm The service could be considered for 6 with the double serving plate for soups and second courses, or you could purchase 6 totally white fruit plates...

Rare Meissen Rococo Genre Group 'The Happy Parents', by M V Acier, Circa 1860
Located in Vienna, AT
Exceptional Meissen porcelain group of the 19th century: Young mother in elaborate Rococo house dress: Ruched wide long skirt, bodice, fitted frilled coat with hood, the upswept hair covered by a high voluminous bonnet with ruched hem and bows, sitting on a splendid Louis XVI style bench and placing her right foot on a stool, beside her the happy spouse in frock coat, waistcoat over frilled shirt and knee breeches with white stockings, both embracing each other at the back and looking down at the baby wrapped in cloth and lying half naked on a cushion on both their laps, the father guiding his right hand to the mother's chin in an affectionate gesture. Behind them a little boy in a playsuit and hat, holding a bowl and blowing soap bubbles with a tube. The group is based on an oval natural base with sculpted flowers and foliage and gold heightened lateral frieze decoration. Particularly elaborate, detailed design and staffage. Designed by MICHAEL VICTOR ACIER (1736 - 1799) Skilled as a sculptor in Paris, he received a call to the porcelain manufactory in Meissen in 1764, and was there, after Kändler's death in 1775, solely responsible for the artistic interests of the manufactory. He created a large number of groups in the Watteau style...
