About the Item

This is an ornamental hand-painted cheval mirror done in the Rococo style. Over time, the original paint has acquired a rich patina that enhances the painted flowers and trimmings on the carvings. The abundance of curves and flowers cannot help but make the eye wander and notice the delicate details, such as the lovely hand-carved rosettes and scrolling curves of the leaves. On the back of the mirror, you see a centered grotesque face biting a classic ribbon bow of blooming flower vines. On the bottom, on each side, are faces, holding the ends of a garland of flowers. All this on, cabriole legs. H=77 in. W=35 in. D=19 in. 45 lbs.
