About the Item
Charming French gilt bronze mirror, late 19th century, in Empire style. The rectangular frame is richly decorated with acanthus leaves and classical motifs, crowned with a laurel wreath and ribbon cresting. The piece rests on stylized feet, enhancing its elegant presence.
The frame has a beautiful old patina, adding depth and character. It was most likely originally conceived as a picture frame and later adapted with a mirror plate, making it both decorative and functional today. One could also consider restoring it to its original use as a picture frame by replacing the mirror glass with clear glass.
