17th Century German Barock Carved Mirror
Located in Lymington, GB
A rare German Baroque (Barock) superbly-carved oval mirror.
Early-17th century, circa 1620-1630.
The frame is exquisitely carved. The cresting with two cherubs supporting a cartouche, and seated upon displaying eagles.
The base centred by a grotesque mask typical of this early period. The oval frame is flanked by boldly-carved Barock scrolls and foliate decoration, the inner frame very well carved with egg and dart. Very minor losses entirely consistent with age. Plate later.
