French 19th Century George I Carved Giltwood Mirror

About the Item

A sensational and large scale English early 19th century George I st. giltwood mirror circa 1820. The mirror retains its original mirror plate set within a stunning and most decorative frame with a fine twisted ribbon band and superb wrap around Greek key designed band with richly carved rosettes and fine palmettes. At each corner are impressive finely detailed floral reserves with beautiful charming swaging blooming floral garlands draped down each side. The majestic top crown displays a striking band of large finely detailed acanthus leaves below the impressive central seashell reserve flanked by remarkable mottled architectural elements. All original gilt throughout.
