About the Item

A Georgian period, Chippendale design small walnut and parcel gilt fretwork wall mirror or pier-glass, dating from the early 19th century. This wall mirror with well figured walnut veneered fretwork frame, an oblong mirror plate with a moulded inner border, the crested top centred by Hoho bird cartouche, and shaped apron. Wood panelled back fitted with chain for hanging. The mirror glass appears to be original, as there is some unevenness to the surface, the edges appear hand-cut, and there is a small yet pleasing amount of foxing to the plate. An attractive mirror, in reasonably good condition, well presented and ready for use. Dimensions: This frame measures approximately 74.5 cm (29.375") tall, 43.5 cm (17.125") wide, and 4 cm (1.75") deep. The mirror glass measures 45 cm (17.75") by 29.5 cm (11.625"). Condition: Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This frame is in a reasonably good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally sound. Some minor marks and blemishes on the frame. One piece of fret on the bottom left has been re-veneered. Small and minor losses to the tips of some of the fretwork. The base of the apron has a little veneer loss. Glass is likely original, as appears handmade and therefore of the same period as the frame. Well presented. Cleaned and waxed, ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
