Italian 18th Century Louis XVI St. Giltwood Mirror
About the Item
An elegant and large scale Italian 18th century Louis XVI st. giltwood mirror. The mirror from the Genovese region is raised by two supporting legs flanking the central reserve of scrolled acanthus leaves. The rectangular mottled giltwood frame is decorated with an inner twisted rope design and an outer band with X reserves. The top has a pediment which supports a wonderfully detailed foliate urn. The urn is flanked by scrolls to each side which are supported by Greek keys at each end above falling branches of leaves.
