Italian 19th Century Louis XVI St. Patinated and Giltwood Mirror
About the Item
An exceptional and incredibly unique Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated and giltwood mirror. The mirror retains its original mirror plate set within a most decorative straight and arched shaped frame. The frame displays a superb array of richly chased floral garlands set on a patinated turquoise background and leading up each side to intricately detailed floral reserves at the arched top. The frame is carved at an angle creating a wonderful trumploy optical illusion making the frame look deeper than it is. A fine Coeur de Rai band leads up the edge of each side while the arch displays a striking mottled Les Oves design. All original gilt throughout.
