About the Item
Bring refined neoclassical charm to your interior with this elegant antique French mirror, crafted circa 1870 in the Louis XVI style. The hand-carved wooden frame is crowned with the style’s signature decorative motif, a sculpted ribbon bow crest, flanked by flowing, symmetrical swags. The parcel-gilt finish has aged to a warm, mellow patina, accentuating the soft curves and crisp carving throughout.
The mirror retains its original mercury glass, wooden back and has been fitted with later hanging hardware for secure wall display. Measuring 29.25 inches wide by 3 inches deep and 53.75 inches high, its vertical orientation and slender proportions make it ideal for use above a console, in an entryway, or as an elegant accent in a powder room. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with light surface wear enhancing its authentic antique character.
