Mid-19th Century, Italian Wall Mirror

About the Item

A grand-scale, c. 1850, hand-carved gessoed, and 22k gold gilded, mirror from central Italy. The richly carved body is embellished with foliate scrolls, and clusters of blooms throughout, and rises to a pierced crown with a forward thrusting flourish of leaves above a relief face of a god.
