About the Item

This statement-making Venetian art-glass wall mirror will warm any room with its richly saturated palette of warm red, orange, green, ochre, blue, brown and black! There are even hints of the milky glass associated with the island of Murano, located just off the coast North of Venice. The frame is made of wood with an intricately polychromed painted glass all-over-pattern applied to the frame, in the millefiori style. It can be hung both vertically and horizontally. It has an extremely solid backing and supportive hooks, pictured above. Contributing to its strong presence on a wall is the notable 4.5" frame depth, which serves to really ground the piece in any room. Through history, the Venetians were considered to be Europe's finest mirror makers. That reputation continues today, though styles have modernized considerably toward simpler frame structures.

Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. This mirror is in excellent condition overall. There is a small unremarkable crack in the lower right side of frame. It's obscured by intricacies of the painted glass frame. See images above. I've enlarged the image, so crack can actually be seen.
