About the Item

This beautiful Pair of 19th century Biedermeier have been made in the early 1820s in South Germany. They are made out of Pine and veneered in Cherrywood. In the upper filling field an oval medallion with allegorical figure depiction in gilded relief carving. Fantastic condition and Patina also of the original mirror glass. Each mirror is 133cm in height and 58cm wide. They are seen in the book: Biedermeier-Möbel by Rudolf Pressler and Robin Straub. A unique piece which is a great eye-catcher for your antique, modern, space age or mid-century interior. All pieces are looked after in our own restoration workshop. We also can do new upholstery cover or other special requests. Biedermeier: The term Biedermeier refers on the one hand to the bourgeoisie's own culture and art that emerged during this period, for example in domestic music, interior design and also in clothing fashion, and on the other hand to the literature of the time, which is often labelled "home-made" or "conservative". The escape into the idyll and the private sphere is considered typical. The wood or veneer itself became the most important stylistic element in the design and decoration of Biedermeier furniture. Especially in southern Germany, people used selected veneers and did without any applications.
