Biedermeier:
The term Biedermeier refers on the one hand to the bourgeoisie's own culture and art that emerged during this period, for example in domestic music, interior design and also in clothing fashion, and on the other hand to the literature of the time, which is often labelled "home-made" or "conservative". The escape into the idyll and the private sphere is considered typical.
The wood or veneer itself became the most important stylistic element in the design and decoration of Biedermeier furniture. Especially in southern Germany, people used selected veneers and did without any applications.
