About the Item
An impressive and most elegant pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI Period patinated and Giltwood mirrors. Each wonderful large scale mirror rests on a fine patinated base with protruding sides and a mottled Giltwood upper edge. The rectangular mirror plate is framed within a mottled outer edge and beaded inner band while being flanked by two slender mottled columns displaying Giltwood foliate decorations. The top capital of both columns display Giltwood rosettes which flank a panel with decorations similar to the columns on either side of the mirror. The top of each mirror is double mottled with a Giltwood band at the peak.
