Period Louis XIV Giltwood Mirror from Provence, France, circa 1700

About the Item

This Period Louis XIV mirror has some of the most elegantly carved motifs. They are motifs such as the lambrequin, the acanthus leaf, martial attributes, palmettes, patterned grounds, and the schematic lily or fleur de lys. Notice how the acanthus leaves on the upper portion are curled up and away from the background. Everything is more delicate and sinuous lending itself to the Regence period‘s style, which was to follow his reign. This is a stunning period Louis XIV giltwood mirror that will be a beautiful focal point of any room.
