About the Item
This is a wall-mounted rectangular mirror from the original men's dressing room of the SS United States ocean liner. As with most of the fittings, fixtures and furnishings on this 1951 Mid-Century ship it is made of aluminum and has a brushed finish. Writing on the back indicates its placement on the ship and there is an embossed metal ID tag on one edge showing its official inventory number. This mirror can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Originally it would have been mounted vertically and have had a shallow glass and aluminum shelf for resting grooming items. See the original screws on the front of the frame which secured the shelf in place. If requested we can fabricate a close facsimile to the original shelf.
