Botticino marble architectural element, turned column, Italy

About the Item

Turned column, executed in the early 19th century, measuring 51x13.5 cm, of Italian manufacture. An architectural element in the full Neoclassical style, an architectural style that echoes the ideals, formal apparatus, and rationality in the fornes of classical Greek and Roman architecture. The column in question follows the elegant and precise style typical of this historical period. Made of Botticino marble, a fine material of Italian origin, quarried in quarries near Brescia. Characterized by a light, uniform beige hue with subtle ivory white or brown veins. Due to its hardness and strength, this marble is highly valued not only for its aesthetic appearance but also for its durability over time. Just above the plinth, it features a series of decorative motifs with acanthus leaves. The state of preservation is good with signs due to use and time.
