About the Item

The Kingdoms of Edward Hicks (Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center Series.) by Carolyn J. Weekley, and Laura Pass Barry. 254 pp. with 173 illustrations, including 131 plates in full color. "Edwards Hicks (1780-1849) , creator of the "Peaceable Kingdom" paintings, is among the best-loved American folk artists. Published to accompany a 1999 travelling exhibition in the US, this volume draws on the collection of Hicks's work at the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center in Williamsburg, Virginia. The book integrates and discusses his secular and religious concerns (he was a Quaker minister) as they affected his artistic production. Carolyn J. Weekley draws on years of extensive research to explore the artist's early life, the reasons why he joined the Society of Friends, and his ministry. The illustrations include various versions of the "Peaceable Kingdom" paintings. NPT Books a division of N.P. Riverside park: The Splendid Sliver by Edward Grimm. Columbia University Press, 2008. 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. David Hicks Scrapbooks By: Ashley Hicks The most famous British designer of his day, David Hicks (1929–1998) wowed the English decorating world with his bold geometric prints, electrifying color combinations, and quirky mix of antique and contemporary furniture.
